As we all know, our pets can do some really silly things from time to time. I find in these moments when I see them do something that makes me chuckle or genuinely belly laugh are when I feel the most at ease. Whatever is going on in the world has faded away and the joy I feel is something I always think, “I want to hold on to this feeling as long as I can.”
For instance, Anna lays on the couch in between Chad and I sometimes. She almost always faces Chad and every once in a while she will tilt her head over completely backwards and look at me. When this happens the moment pictured below always makes me laugh! I don’t know what it is about her front teeth showing that’s so funny to me, but I find it to be hilarious!
Other times, we give her small treats that are human food. Cheeto puffs are one of her favorites…second only to popcorn! I love how she chews them with her mouth so open as if she doesn’t want the Cheeto’s getting stuck in her teeth, but at the same time wants to chew them!
Then there’s Toothless. Beebee, as I often call him when he’s being silly, always finds a way to be in the middle of our home improvement projects. Last week we added a chair rail in the dining room and painted the lower half of the wall grey. In the midst of cleaning up our mess I turned to see him laying like this! The one where he’s looking at me as if to say, “what?!” is because I said, “Beebee…you’re a nut!”
Pets give you joy and there’s plenty of studies that show both cats and dogs help reduce stress and add life to your years/years to your life. We are eternally grateful for ours!
